Advanced Learning
Spotswood Elementary School is dedicated to providing challenging instruction to ensure every child is learning to his or her potential. This task is accomplished through differentiated instruction which is tailored to the needs of the individual. In my role as the Advanced Learning Specialist, I work collaboratively with classroom teachers to develop and teach a curriculum that challenges advanced learners in the areas of math and language arts. Advanced learners are engaged in tasks which require problem solving and high level thinking skills. I also offer an extra-curricular club computer science club where advanced learners in 2nd grade learn computer programming. Be sure to check out our blog to see what our students are learning!
Parents and teachers may refer a child for gifted eligibility testing by completing the referral form. Forms must be submitted to Tonia Campillo by December 17 for students to be tested during the 2014-2015 school year.
